East & West Marsh, NE Lincs
EMU was co-produced with local residents to dispel any myths and misconceptions surrounding smoking in the area through collected data that concluded most people in East & West Marsh (Grimsby) don’t smoke. The intervention ran in September 2012.
The community wanted an iconic campaign that stood out as being something funny or unnatural in the community setting and therefore decided on something you don’t see everyday in Grimsby; an Emu.
The campaign slogan ‘He knew… She knew… EMU’ was devised by the community as a teaser prior to launching the social norms messages. These messages reflected the sense of humour of the community and added some fun and colour to the setting.
